Rescue and Rehabilitation

Rescue and Rehabilitation

Beggars rehabilitation is a structured process for the transformation of marginalized and less fortunate people who are mainly women, dying destitute, mentally ill and mentally retarded, physically challenged, drug-addicted, sexually abused women, etc. in rural, urban, and semi-urban areas in Tamil Nadu into respectable citizens. After field visits and survey through which we collect information about beggars, homeless and destitute people, we closely scrutinize their life span of begging history, health status, and other conditions like their involvement in drugs, stealing, alcohols, etc.

Then the rehabilitation process will be initiated depending upon their physical fitness and various advices, counselling through medical professionals, and closely monitoring their illness status both physically as well as mentally. After interacting with beggars, learning their family and personal life stories, we will help them to clean their hair, give them bath, give new clothes, medicine, etc. We will fist make sure that their personal hygiene and mental reposition would be changed convincingly through personal rapport and loving care for their welfare. After cleaning process their attitude and behavior would totally change and will cooperate well with us.

We found that 50% of beggars expressed their anger and 50% beggars gave wrong data about them when our team met them the first time. Our team would continuously give counselling and collect more data about their family and past history of work life, marriage life, friends, etc. We would analyze their data continuously and once they are found to be fit, we will arrange jobs to those who are physically and mentally fit to do work after assessment by our medical professionals. Physically and mentally challenged beggars would be admitted in Old Age Homes depending upon their nature of disability, health conditions, etc. Our volunteers will visit various Orphanage Home, Old Age Home to monitor beggars who were rehabilitated after counselling and sent to those Homes due to poor health condition and age related issues. Our volunteers will also spend time with rehabilitated beggars to make them feel motivated and happy. We also have follow up of the beggars who are admitted into various Homes.
